I'm Back Again

I'm making a come back at tomorrow's Hooha 10.10.10 Fun Run after a lapse of 4 months. My knees are not fully recovered and i need knee guard for protection especially the right one.

I have to hit the road as stamina and fitness are at the lowest ever since i took up running. My weight ballooned to 70kg understandably huge appetite is a norm for runners like us.

Slow recovery is partly attributed to my nonchalantly attitude. So many advices poured in and confused me.It took me a month to decide to seek medical treatment and then later consulted a professional masseur.

Another factor to be blamed is probably due to age.It took longer for me to heal over a minor injury compared to the younger athletic.

Yesterday a running buddy paced me from Taman Rakyat to the residential area of Taman Sri Andalas. The distance was approximately 3km and at a speed of 5 and half minutes pace i hit the wall, panting heavily and tongue almost touching the ground.

Unlike before, tomorrow's run of 5km will be a test for me.The timing isn't important,to complete without limping back is definitely a great start for me.Wish me luck!

UPT Forwarding & Transport Sdn Bhd - Annual Dinner 31july2010

Our company which is popularly known as UPT in Port Klang held its annual dinner at Toh Yuen Restaurant,Klang Executive Club in Bandar Baru Klang last night.

Initially we planned for a local destination holiday such as Redang Island,Tioman or even Kota Kinabalu but the idea was eventually abandoned due to hectic work and inevitable schedules and the nature of our company's business (service industry) which requires some of us to be on standby during long holiday.

The organising committees at last opt for a gathering which was last held by coincidence in this restaurant several years ago.

Almost all of us turned up and dinner started punctually at eight. An eight course Chinese cuisine which is halal was served.Karaoke session followed and those who love to sing,it was time to show their talent while the rest enjoyed the night away mingling and chatting.

The main event of the night was the lucky draw contest.Well actually there was something for everyone except for who will get the largest and the most expensive prize.

It was a simple fun filled night and not so often all of us got an opportunity like this to mix and get to know each other better.

A photo of remembrance..the staff of various department.

This is our boss,Mr Tan..a very tolerance and understanding man who listens and solve problems amicably and professionally.

The longest serving staff..Mr T.Balakrishnan who has been loyally with UPT since 1973

Mr Koh Han Boon (centre)..the oldest in the office is our advisor

The young generations..Tan See Yong (left) oversee the haulage department wherelse his eldest brother Chi Lin (right)concentrates on the marketing side.

Our haulier manager,Mr Percival

Unlike many who indulged in 'lepak' and 'mat rempit' culture, this hard working man,Shahrul Azman is our despatch by day and deliver Mc Dee at night to earn extra.Beside him is Miss Kelly Choi, the experience and soft spoken coordinator

This attractive lady in red is our 'taukeh niu' literally means our boss' wife in Chinese. She rendered a Chinese number in the karaoke session upon request from the staff..

..and Yap of haulage department sang his soul out in a sentimental English song

Car 10k Family Run - 18april2010

I should have been an observer instead of participant.Despite a series of injury that hit me from ankle, heel to knee,i braved myself to take part.Thought a slow pace would have had satisfied my urge of running and of course a finisher medal to add in my collection.

Weather was beautiful after an overnight downpour.A friend of mine,a KPAC member which also a CAR (Chap Ayam Runners) member from KL helped me to sign up as participation was meant for members and limit to invited guests only.

The race was organised to the resemblance of Saucony Pacemakers Network Run which was held on 1st of January except for a slight change to the route.

It took me a big courage to run the three laps close to 11km with my left knee hurting me which i suspect a wear out cartilage. But i didn't force myself too much and at easy pace i completed the run in 1h 08m 54s..one of my slowest in my recent run.

I hang up my jogging shoes for the past four days.My senior recommended me glucosamine sulphate for faster recovery and hopefully i can run the next race without have to suffer so much.

Going strong at the beginning...

One lap completed...

..and the suffering

Thanks but er..er..no thanks

A close friend proposed that i should be included in the KPAC's board of committees.I thought it was merely a joke and pay no attention to it.

I had a shock when he dropped by last week and handed over an envelope containing a nomination form.He wanted to nominate me as a candidate for the presidency and he was dead serious about it.

In fact he already started the campaigning for me,gather supports from not only the ordinary members but the committees too.I felt irritated and uneasy with the sudden attention focus on me to take on the incumbent president.

A number of them even called me up to render their undivided support. Many suggestions and ideas were brought up.Persuasive words kept pouring in,appeal to me to give a helping hand but i doubt their sincerity.

My intention is clear, the decision still stand since the day i left the club two years ago.

Frankly speaking,i enjoy helping members to register for races, collecting annual subscription fee, compiling reports and results and etc. With that,as last resort, they offered me the Vice President post for all my efforts and voluntarily works.

But again sorry to KPAC,I'm not ready to commit myself again and i have to turn down all the offers.

Bareno Run - 14march2010

I do not wish to elaborate much about how the event was organised here. Most importantly to me was the route chosen by the organiser at the Bareno run.

It was the same one as they held a breakfast run a few weeks ago.I did mention then about the confusing turnings and corners. But then it was only about a hundred runners taking part compared to more than a thousand that turned up last Sunday.

It was still dark when the race started.Understandably the residents in the surrounding neighborhood were still in bed or just woke up.

With so many runners on the road that morning, police traffic officers and road marshals were deployed to every junctions and corners.

The traffic's volume increased as the sun rose.Soon after the last category was flagged, all runners later clashed at the busy Jalan 1/155B.To make matter worse, cars parked along the roadside narrowed down the lane.

Runners were seen spilt over the pedestrian walkway and the road. The traffic was stopped for runners to cross over to Jalan 13/155C causing massive jam.Drivers who had waited long enough became impatient and started to honk and shout at the road marshals. It was pathetic to see those volunteers being scolded and cursed.

Again the scene at Jalan Barat was not better. This time a motorist lost his temper. He screamed at the police traffic officer. He must have waited too long.

Personally i do not blame anybody here. The route just isn't for a race event.
